My speech 2019

Reflection
I have been learning to write a speech
I found this challenging because there were not many facts online
Something i learnt was that a speech isn't as easy as i thought because i thought you just write your ideas but no you have to use comedy, emotional language, similes, onomatopoeia and  power of three
I was scared to present my speech in front of my class i felt embarrassed after  did it
My next step is to add more facts to my speech and make better content by putting my time into it really thinking a bout it adding emotional language, similes, onomatopoeia and power of three

Reflection I was learning to sumurise and myth of Maui and the giant ika Now i can take a long story and make a not to short but not too long summery and to include the parts that matter my next step is to add my wow words and add more detail

I was learning about Matariki. I'm surprised that I know all the names .I can now make a poster  my wall without help

New Zealand disasters

Reflection
I have been earning about new Zealand disasters. I was surprised  are that they are all in the 90s not many in the 20s and none in the 80s.  I was also surprised that a lot of bad disaster happened in new Zealand i thought here would be a couple but i did nine and theres a lot more.

All about Matariki

 We have been learning about Matariki. I was surprised because there were some things I didn't know about, like that you Maori say Matariki as Matakiki i thought they invented the word. I still wonder how other countryś celebrate Matariki or if they do.

Information report

 Reflection

I have been learning to write an information report. an information report needs to have a begging middile and conclousion. it includess facts, and be written in the present tence. i found this easy bcause Ive learnt al lot about tauranga My next steps are to write a better conculision.

WALT use the scale on a ruler.

We are learning to use the scale on a ruler. I was able to identify the mm and the cm
I can write the length using the unit. I found this hard because i had to have help
My next step is to do mm and also do it all by my self.

We have started reading a new novel called holes and was illustrated by louis sachar.

Making predictions about a text

I am learning to make a prediction based in the cover and blurb we read a novel called tree top treasure my prediction was nothing like the book something that surprised me was that Mr McBride car was out side when the birds were getting taken My next steps are to look carefully at the cover and blurb to help me think about what the story will be about.

The problom with pluto

 Reflection

I have been learning to find and summaries information by choosing the most important information. Summarising when you tell some one about a book or something like that in your own words I found this interesting because i didn't know much about Pluto i found this tricky because when i read the book it was hard to suumarise it in my own words My next step is to summaries more facts about Pluto.

Linking Ideas in the Text to Give Greater Understanding

My Reflection 
I have been learning to link ideas (both implicit and explicit) in the text so i get greater understanding of the story. i found this easy because i understood the book. My next steps are to give resaons from the text to support an inference I made.

Statistical Investigation

Reflection
I have been learning to use statistical enquiry cycle to carry out an investigation. My investigation is Favourite Animals. I was surprised that not many people chose horses. I found collecting the data the most challenging because there were a lot of people to get through. My next step is to display another graph of a different type

Welcome to my year 5 learning blog. This year I am in room 24 and my teachers are Mrs Melville and Mrs Rayner . I enjoy art on a computer ad making cards. A goal his year is to get better at math. I hope you will enjoy my blog and leave lots of feed back!
