I have been contributing to artwork to enrich our classroom to support our Family Tree work for Maori  and our descriptive writing about Fireworks 

Counting Money and Giving Change

I am learning to recognise the value of NZ coins to add, total and give change.



At first I thought it was hard but I could add the money.  It was a bit harder to give change.

Bella, you counted the coins well.  When the amounts of change of simple you can work them out but it was harder for amounts like $3.20  from $5.00.  Mrs Templeton  21.11.16

Writing Recounts

I am learning to write a recount about my experiences.

• sequence my ideas
• add detail to my ideas
• use time words e.g. later, after, next, first, finally etc.
• use capital letters and full stops

Predicting, inferring and exploring vocabulary

I am learning to predict, make inferences and explore vocabulary


The questions were a bit hard for me but I could read what it says easy. Next time it would have been easier to help each other and talk about it more.  - Bella 15.11.16

Kiwi Dog - Comprehension Questions

I have been learning to show my understanding of a text by answering questions about what I have read at Level 20-21.



Some of the questions were easy but some were hard for me to understand.

Shape Pizza - Geometry

I am learning to identify, name and sort a range of 2D shapes according to their attributes: (number of sides, corners, parallel lines, curves, size, shape etc)

Describing a Storm

I am learning to describe a storm using my senses.

To be successful I will choose interesting words to describe wht i can see, hear and feel during a storm.



You have really tried to think of what you can see and hear in a storm.  
I love the 'shaking down your spine"  it shows me you were scared without

Visual Art: Geometric Shape Art

I have been learning to observe and compare the works of other artists and to create my own art work using geometric shapes.

To be successful I needed to look at the works of Klee, Matisse and Kandinsky (right) and cut a range of shapes in different sizes and place them carefully to create my own masterpiece. (left)

I have been learning all about halves and quarters.

"It was a little tricky at first, but it I did it."

Youthtown Sports

We have been participating in the Youthtown sports programme where we are learning to be part of a team.

"I liked doing relays, it was lots of fun."

Alliterated Sentences

I am learning to write alliterated sentences.

Bella buys a big butterfly.

"First I wrote all the words that start with the 'b' sound, then I wrote a sentence. It was fun."

Adding Numbers

Different Numbers, Same Amount

I am learning that numbers can look different but still equal the same amount.

“Mine is different because I put 3 up the top and 5 down the bottom.  3 + 5 is 8.”

Swimming

I have been learning to swim with my head in the water.  It was a bit tricky to start with, but I keep practising to get better.

My Family

My family is from Nga Puhi and Scotland.  There are 65 people in my family. We like to go for a long trip.  My family take good care of me and take me to fun places. Bella March 2016

In writing I have been writing about my family.  I have been learning to use capital letters and full stops in the right places.

I liked writing about my family, but I found it tricky to get all the capital letters right.
